Originally, Beds 4 Africa started off as an idea for a Gofundme campaign to address the bed shortage situation in a specific area. A group of like minded African American women was formed to combat this issue. After hearing comments and seeing videos of how healthcare is administered in many hospitals, our motherly instincts kicked in and we realized something more substantial was necessary.
Our research has brought to light the hospital bed per capita ratio in most African countries is shocking, distressing and shameful. Indexmundi.com created graphs of hospital bed density (bed/population) of 178 countries tracked by the CIA. Of the 28 countries with 10 beds or less per 10,000 people, 17 of those countries can be found in Africa. Per 10,000 people Ghana is listed at 9, Togo at 7, Uganda at 5, Ethiopia at 3 and Mali listed only 1, just to point out a few (Source CIA World Factbook-accurate as of January 1, 2019)
We believe these beds are necessary to assist medical services in boosting quality of care by getting patients off of the floor or waiting room chair. In this way the level of care will not be compromised but "elevated".

Making a change for a long-lasting difference in the community by supporting hospitals and medical institutions in need of hospital beds in Africa.
It is the mission, duty and purpose of Beds 4 Africa Inc. to address the shortage issue of hospital beds in hospitals, medical facilities and clinics serving needy communities in Africa. Purpose of Beds 4 Africa Inc. is to acquire and distribute hospital beds to improve/assist in the receipt of proper healthcare to individuals. These beds will assist healthcare workers by alleviating the decision of how to care for a human being, since this person will no longer lay on a contaminated floor, plastic waiting room chair or leaving entirely.
Ghana will be the first country supplied through bed donation. As our company expands and donations flourish so will our outreach to other countries. Ghana will be the beginning of our mission
